Continuing Education

Thank you for advancing your Continuing Education (CE) through Ascent. These courses have been developed in response to overwhelming industry demand for more education on sustainability practices, and are 100% free to any nurse, whether accessed via HealthStream at your facility, or via the link below.

NOTE: All of these courses are also approved for CE credits by IAHCSMM. Central Sterile Department professionals are eligible for continuing education credits as well as nurses.

CE courses that are currently available (more to come in 2010):

  • Sustainability in the Surgical Environment—addresses a chief concern of perioperative nurses: sustainability in the operating room, including environmentally-friendly practices and pathways to sustainability that support healthy and responsible surgical environments.
  • Sustainability in the Electrophysiology Lab—takes nurses and technicians through a model of sustainability in healthcare, examining the relationship between quality care and sustainability, and the role of redistribution, remanufacturing, recycling and reprocessing in the EP lab.
  • Reprocessing and Remanufacturing: Law, Science and Reality—focuses on the historical review of the single-use device industry, followed by liability, ethics, cost and regulation issues that impact reprocessing and remanufacturing. This course also explains the Quality System Regulations that are necessary for any FDA-registered medical device company. Find out if reprocessing is right for you and your organization.
